Viva Las Vegas Picture Overload

This last weekend Jay and I along with his brother Jed and his wife Mandi and their two kids took a trip to Las Vegas to see Jay's Grandma who's health is quickly declining.  We were so grateful to be able to take the time to go down and visit with her and all of the other family who lives there and also the ones who were visiting as well.  On Saturday we spent the morning with the family, we went to breakfast and then out to the dam (we go see the dam every time we are there and this time the bridge was actually finished...pictures to follow).  After that we went back to Jay's Uncle Terry's where we were staying, we all had a little bit of a nap and then the kids went swimming.  After all of that we went to visit Grandma Bender (who was at dialysis while we were out playing), It was soooo good to see her, we hadn't been down to see her since April or so when we were helping Uncle Terry put new shingles on his roof.  We visited for a while and then we decided to see if Grandma Lila (Jay's mom) would watch Jed and Mandi's kids so that we could go down to the strip for a while.  She gladly accepted and off we went.  I was so excited because I finally got to go to the Bodies...The Exhibition.  I have been wanting to go ever since they had it up at the University of Utah.  It was very  possibly THE coolest thing that I have ever seen in my life!!!  I would go back a million times over!  We also got to go through the Titanic museum thing that is right next to the Bodies one.  It was pretty cool to walk through and see some of the things they have found in the wreckage and see how preserved it is for being under the water.  It was insane!  We then headed down to the Belagio to go see what they had done with the garden this time, and to watch the water show.  The garden was GORGEOUS with the fall theme, they had some seriously huge pumpkins there, and the water show was by far the best I have seen!!  We had a great time and we were able to go spend some more time with Grandma Bender before we left for home on Sunday.  I wish that we were able to go down more often to spend time with our family down here!  We definitely don't get to see them often enough!  I am sorry that some of my pictures decided to turn sideways after I uploaded them...but it wont let me put them on the right way?  Dont ask me!

Utah State Fair

On Saturday Jay and I went to the State fair because military, police, and firemen got in for free because it was 9/11.  We had a blast when we finally got up there!!   It was a crazy day to say the least.  We left Fayette around 11am and got to the state fair around 5:30 pm.   We had intended on being up there around oh ya know 2 pm or so...but we ended up having to go and rescue our friends Cody & Brittney.  They were out on the west desert looking for deer because Britt has an archery tag.  They got out there and parked their truck and walked for about a half our maybe fourty-five minutes, and came back to the truck just to find out that their battery had died.  They were out in the middle of no where with very little cell phone service, and there are only 2 people who knew how to get to where they were.  Us being one of those two, and the only ones they could get a hold of.  So needless to say we drove an hour out of our way to go and jump start their truck.  The only bad part was the fact that we were in my Focus.  Yes that's right we went off roading in my Focus to save them.  We got a little ways from the truck and came to a huge hill covered in rocks and there was no way my car was making it up that without blowing a tire or an oil pan or something!!!  So we thought we were doomed.  Then Cody had the brilliant idea to take the battery out of my car and hike up to his truck with the battery and hope that his truck will start.  After walking for what seemed like forever, we finally got to the truck and THANK GOODNESS it started. So then we drove back to the car put the battery back in and then headed up to the fair.  I was a little frustrated but happy that we were able to help them out!!  When we finally got up to the fair we spent our time walking through the exhibits and booths and checking everything out.  Then we remembered that with our fair entrance we also were able to get into the rodeo they have up there.  So we decided we would go to the rodeo and when we got there to find a seat we very quickly realized that we should have went over there MUCH MUCH MUCH earlier than we did.  Needless to say we did not get a seat for the rodeo so we left the fair and went bowling at BYU instead.  We had so much fun and in the end we were happy that we didnt get to the fair until later because we ran out of stuff to look at after being there for an hour and a half!!  All in all it was a great day!!

Womens Expo

On Friday, I was able to go to Orem to the Utah Valley Women's Expo Autumn Edition.  It was so much fun!! I went with my sister Andie and my nephew Jaxson while the rest of her kids were at school.  We also went to the Spring Edition in April.  We had so much more fun at this one though.  We learned from the last one not to go on Saturday in the middle of the day, and not to write our phone numbers on the contest entry forms!!  So this time we just went and spent!! HAHA I made it out of there with almost $300 in scrapbooking stuff for $15 yes that is correct $15!!  And that $15 went to Operation Smile!!  I didnt feel bad about that purchase AT ALL!!!  I think that this expo is going to be a new tradition with me and my sister!!  It is a great getaway even if you dont have money!!  Last time we went we were both DIRT POOR and we still had fun!!!  It is a great experience for all you girlies!!  Mark it on your calendar for next year and make sure to check it out!!!

Back To School I Go...But This Time Not As A Student

Last Friday I took in an application to substitute teach for the South Sanpete School District.  When I got home from taking my application to Manti, they had already called me and asked me to come back so that I could give them my finger prints so that they could run a background check on me.  I was like hey sweet my first step in getting the job!!!  I wasnt able to go back over on Friday so she told me to come in on Tuesday.  So when I went in yesterday I told her that I was there to be finger printed and she handed me a W-4 and told me to fill it out and that she would need a deposit slip because all pay from the school district is direct deposit.  I was in shock..she hadnt even run my fingerprints!!  After I finished that and my fingerprints (I passed) She told me she would send in my paper work that day and that I could start substituting any time after that.  So needless to say..I am now officially a substitute teacher for the Gunnison Valley High School and Middle School.   I was too scared to deal with the elementary school kids for now...maybe next year!!! Wahoo I have a job, now I just hope that I get to sub once in a while!!!

Back In The Blogging World

It has been a really long time since I have blogged, but now that I do not have a full time job, maybe I will get a little more posted and have something to keep my busy!! So here is a short update on our lives!!

Jay and I recently moved to Fayette. We are renting to own Grandpa Bartholomew's home now that it has become empty. We wanted to keep the house in the family because it has so much heritage, and we are so grateful that we were able to be the ones to get the house. Jay is working at ACT in the aerospace department. He uses carbon fiber to create airplane/helicopter parts. He is hoping that the original job he applied for a Christensen Arms (owned by the same people) will open up so that he can transfer over there and start making guns. He would be in HEAVEN!! I have just been at home since we moved trying to get the house situated and looking for a job. As of today I am going to be starting to substitute teach at the Gunnison middle and high schools. I am pretty excited, but pretty nervous at the same time. Other than that we are just doing all we can to help out on the farm and get ready for winter!!!

We also just celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary. I cannot believe that it has already been a year since we got married. It seems like just yesterday!! I am so happy that I met Jay and I cant wait to spend many more years with him!!!
